Become a Trader
Are you interested in becoming a market trader on Widnes Market?
On this page you will find information and a variety of links to help you through the process.
Widnes Market is open 5 days a week. It is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays (except near to Christmas. The Market is also closed on Bank Holiday Mondays. Wednesday is Flea Market Day on the outdoor market.
There are over 200 stalls, plus outdoor stalls. We do try and keep stalls selling the same type of commodities to a minimum, but there are no hard and fast rules about this. However, the more individual your commodity, the more likely it is we can find somewhere for you to have a stall.
You can contact the market office on 0151 471 7340 or email markets@halton.gov.uk for more information.
Indoor Stalls are available from as little as £75 per week (there is a minimum period of rental). This cost includes lighting and electricity plus a contribution to the market promotion fund, used to do activities and advertising to promote the market as a whole. Stall prices vary depending on floor area and where the stall is in relation to doors etc.
Outdoor Stalls are available for traders selling new goods on Monday, Thursday, Friday
and Saturdays each week. There are some regular traders, but there are some stalls available for casual use or for you to become a regular outdoor trader. Stalls cost from as little as £13 per day inclusive of services.
Flea Market. The flea Market takes place every Wednesday and is for traders selling second hand goods only, no new commodities are allowed. Stalls are allocated from 6.30am each Wednesday so you need to be there early! Individual stalls cost £18.50 a stall. Please note that some stalls do not have tables or counter tops so you may need to bring along your own tables etc. Pasting tables are OK for light goods, but something a little more sturdy for heavier goods is required.
What do I need? You need to be eligible to work in the UK, have a National Insurance number and also, if you are to be anything more than a a casual trader, some form of Public Liability Insurance. We will ask for proof of the above at the outset
A list of stalls available as at 25th January 2012 can be found here
